Shallow Gallery presents Heavy Things, an exhibition, which brings together the works of Campbell McConnell and Ross Hammond.
Opening event on Saturday the 11th of April at 6pm – 8pm. On view until Sunday the 24th of May.
‘Heavy Things’ explores themes around the domestic home, nostalgic memory and forms of resistance.
The installation incorporates domestic walls, hoarded items, moving image and wooden platforms which act as a stage for theatrical moments in order to contextualize a conversation between both artists’ work.
Using landscape models, world building and fantasy ‘Heavy Things’ asks questions that challenge our relationship to the idea of Englishness, within divided and connected social histories, specifically around authority within themes such as, workers rights, unions and displacement.
